After several iterations and feedback from the test users, we at Project DORA are ready now with a fully functional DORA platform and the stable version of DORAApp. We recently displayed the project and the smartphone application in the European Commission stand at the Transport Research Arena (TRA), Vienna.
The project partners based in Finland and Germany staffed the booth and patiently explained the offerings of the project along with a demo of DORAApp to the booth visitors. The team of three from different cities and expertise ran the whole show and networked during the conference. We got the opportunity to present Mobility as a Service (MaaS) opportunity Project DORA offers to the long distance travellers (i.e. air passengers) to some senior members of European Commission, and received the feedback that we should consider this project for a pan-Europe implementation using funding opportunities available through CEF Transport. We are excited from these encouraging feedbacks and considering future direction for the project. Reach out to us if you like to know more about the benefits Project DORA offers to the cities and airports for a predictable and effective utilisation of transport infrastructure and airport’s facilities!
Looking at the success of neck pillows from ITS Strasbourg, we continued to distribute this promotional item to booth visitors, which were happy to receive such a unique item. This promotional item actually aligns with the offerings of Project DORA that enables smooth travel on the landside and inside airports and this neck pillow helps air passengers to relax during the flight where DORAApp remains idle.
Afterhours from conference were utilised to discover the city of music or dreams ‘Vienna’. The Stephansplatz is full of restaurants and shops that are housed in building with remarkable architectural and is a must visit destination, if you are in Vienna. The another place to include in the travel bucket is Schönbrunn, the palace and gardens have great landscape and if you are interested in animals, there is a zoo, which has two pairs of pandas.
The DORA platform, which seamlessly integrates information from multiple sources and provides journey planning and monitoring services to air travellers, is deployed at Berlin (ticketing services for public transport is available) and Palma. We have launched the pilots for air travellers between Berlin and Palma until September 2018, and DORAApp is available for Android and iOS users. The early users, who plan and complete at least one leg of journey (either BerlinàPalma or PalmaàBerlin or both) using DORAApp and provide feedback through a questionnaire are going to receive a €20 Amazon voucher. Do not miss the opportunity, time is running out and holiday period has started in Palma!
